Dr. Joseph Osmond joined us as a Resident in Training in 2015. Born into a military family he lived all over the United States and Germany.
Dr. Osmond did his undergraduate work at the University of Utah and Optometry school at “The” Ohio State University. He remembers his time with BVA fondly saying,
“BVA made you feel like family.” From the customer service ladies and the technicians, to the
patient doctors “that took great time to teach me and provide opportunities to practice new skills and procedures.”
He was also a big fan of Eischens, which we are too!
One goal Dr. Osmond had set for himself in 2015 was to become a resident director. He attained this at the Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) in North Chicago. While there, he shared his experiences at BVA with 8 residency as well as 42 student externs during his four years there. Another of his accomplishments was becoming credentialed in doing chalazion incision/drainage and intralesional steroid injections at the FHCC, he did this and also helped one of the residents attain her Kentucky license and become certified to perform minor surgical procedures as well.
Dr. Osmond and his family are currently living in Iwakuni, Japan. He will promote to a Commander in the US Navy next month and work as an optometrist in the military clinic. He also leads as the clinic manager of the radiology and physical therapy clinics
